Legal EYE - September

The September edition of Legal EYE has now been published and you can view it here. In this edition, we celebrate Isabel and Nicholas's time at Scullion LAW with Isabel celebrating her 25th anniversary with the firm and Nicholas celebrating 10 years.
Whilst Diana and Nicholas exceeded their expectations and raised over £300 for Yorkhill Children's Charity some of the partners and staff took some time out to attend the Glasgow Bar Association Annual Dinner.
For our legal article this month, we look at the dangers of dying without making a Will and how this can impact on your loved ones.
If you would like to receive your own personal copy of Legal EYE directly into your Inbox, go to our Facebook page and sign up using the Legal EYE subscription form.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

We at #ScullionLAW are delighted to be supporting Marie Curie this year - we have selected this great cause because someone dear to us at Scullion LAW passed away from a terminal illness several years ago. In her final days, Margaret was cared for by Marie Curie nurses. Only £20 will help support one hour of care within a hospice or in the home of someone that is in need. You can help us reach our target £6,500 by October 2016. This gives us exactly one year to reach our total by Margarets' next birthday. Please donate here. https://www.justgiving.com/ScullionLAW-payforaDAY

We also helped FFAMS Families and Friends against Murder and Suicide. They held their annual 'McGilvary Football Tournament' in honour of Paul Gerard who was murdered several years ago. The money raised on the day went towards other families affected by murder and suicide throughout Lanarkshire. This is a great cause and we urge others to get in touch with FFAMS. We are happy to support FFAMS.

We are also delighted to support the truly inspiring ‪#‎boxing‬ club in Hamilton Forsyths Boxing Club. Please click on this link to read a powerful story about one club member called Adele #inspiring  http://www.buchananboxing.com/…/saved-by-the-bell-adele-craw

Scullion LAW Finalised for the prestigious 'Community Contribution Award 2015'. We were honoured to be shortlisted against Digby Brown (they sponsored the Commonwealth Games) for our efforts in the local community of #Lanarkshire where we have been based for over 35 years. We are now in our 6th year working with the local councils in the North and South to host an annual Interschool's Debating Cup. It has been hugely successful over the years, creating opportunities for young pupils to grow in confidence speaking publicly and debating against other schools in a healthily competitive environment, teaching them invaluable lifeskills to equip them for the future. We are proud of all the pupils that have taken part over the years... some have gone on to pursue careers in LAW. If you would like more details about the competition email shanna@scullionlaw.com you are welcome to come to the FINAL #ScullionLAWdebate2015. They are normally held at the end of November.

In addition to our Annual Interschools Debate - we work closely with the local community and take individuals that have left school, and train them up within our administration department to enable them to complete an 8 week work experience programme. Once they finish the placement - we normally keep them on as staff. So far Ian, Lisa, Stacey, Louise, Stewart and a few others have come through the 'Routes To Work' programme. We will continue to help local kids realise their potential within #ScullionLAW- we believe that by encouraging and guiding youngsters they will recognise their own strengths and succeed.
